Un Día Normal
Produced by Mexicut Films in 2023, Un Día Normal (A Normal Day in Spanish) is an award-winning drama short film about the challenges faced by recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, and the impact of immigration enforcement in families and communities.
After screening in multiple film festivals nationwide over the summer, Un Día Normal is now heading to CALIFORNIA for its Los Angeles Premiere at the 3rd Annual Peach Theatre & Film International Festival!
Based on real events, the film follows Esmeralda Monzón, a young immigrant woman who finds herself detained by Immigration & Customs Enforcement despite having protection from deportation through the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA). Surprised by an ambush from immigration enforcement and wanting to avoid an unpleasant situation, Esmeralda has to fight through her fear and anxiety to find a way to prove her status without putting the rest of her family at risk.
Un Día Normal has won Best Short Film at the 2024 International New York Film Festival, Best International Latin Film at the 2024 Urban Film Festival, and received an Independent Spirit Award from Detroit Trinity International Film Festival.
